Brass ball valves are used for liquid flow shut-off and flow control applications. In a ball valve, the ball contains a port that can be turned to face the direction of flow (allowing fluid through), or rotated so that the port is perpendicular to the direction of flow (blocking the fluid and shutting off the flow). In ball valves, brass construction is suitable for light- to medium-duty industrial, chemical and HVAC applications, as well as many more uses. Electric actuated brass ball valves use an electric motor drive, mounted inside a weatherproof enclosure, for On/Off flow control. The brass ball valve direct mounts to the actuator with an international standard ISO 5211 mount pad eliminating valve mounting brackets which reduces the physical size and cost. Options are available for positioning the valve for variable flow control applications.
Rack & Pinion and Scotch Yoke air actuators both provide a simple and reliable method of automating brass ball valves. Scotch Yoke and Rack & Pinion pneumatic actuators are available in spring return or double acting configuration. Spring return actuators use air pressure to open and springs to close the valve (failsafe). Double acting air actuators use air to open and air to close.
Brass ball valves provide an economical and reliable method of controlling On/Off flow in a pipe line. Rotating the ball 90° opens or closes the flow passage. The ball valve can be manually operated with the latch lock lever or direct mounted to an electric actuator or pneumatic actuator.
